Golden Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie is a holiday staple! Use this traditional recipe to make your guests feel right at home.

Ingredients

  • whipped topping (optional)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 frozen deep pie crust
  • 1 1/2 cup s evaporated milk
  • 1 3/4 cup s pumpkin
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ground clove s
  • 2 large eggs

Directions

Preheat oven to 425º F. Place the pie crust on a baking sheet and set aside. In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and salt. In a large bowl, lightly beat the two eggs. Stir the pumpkin and the sugar/spice mixture into the eggs, mixing well. Gradually add the evaporated milk, stirring until mixed completely. Carefully pour the pumpkin mixture into the thawed pie shell. Place the baking sheet with the filled pie into the preheated oven. Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350º and bake for an additional 40-50 minutes, or until a metal knife inserted halfway between the center and the edge comes out clean. Cool for two hours. Top with whipped topping if desired.
